How to replace the battery in the CS2497 12inch PA Speaker

The replacement battery for the CS2497 12inch PA Speaker is available as CS2498.

• Please do not attempt unless you have experience with dismantling electronics and soldering.
• Some parts may have hot-glue holding them in place, and will require you to break them free.
• Make sure the unit is disconnected from power and the battery is discharged before any repairs.

Repair procedure

1. Turn the unit on its back and remove the 8 screws holding the complete top assembly (screws are recessed, 2 under handle and 3 either side of the unit).
2. Remove the top of the unit and remove the 2 screws fixing the grille to the top of the case.
3. Remove the 2 screws fixing the bottom of the grille (one either side, 40cm from grille edge.
4. Remove grille assembly.
5. Remove the 6 screws holding the woofer speaker and lift speaker out of the case.
6. Rest the speaker on top of the tweeter while performing the battery change.
7. Remove the 2 nuts and bolts holding the speaker bracket and remove.
8. Lift the battery out and place it upright on the lower part of the case.
9. De-solder the wires from the old battery and resolder them to the new battery.
10. Check that the unit will now power on under battery power before reassembling the unit.
11. Reassemble the unit and charge the unit until the battery indicator shows 4 bars continually.
