Cameras this article applies to:
Any Wi-Fi camera that uses the Smart Life / Tuya / Nextech Apps, such as: QC3891, QC3908, QC3910, QC3912, QC3914, QC3890, QC3891, QC3892, QC3893, QC3894, QC3857, QC3907, QC3900, QC3859, QC3906, QC3918
How these cameras work
Wi-Fi cameras are linked to an owner's email account in their Apps when first set up - this ensures that cameras can't be accessed or re-used by someone else if they are lost or stolen, just like a phone.
Linked cameras will reject attempts to link them to a different account, even if they are factory-reset, as they check with a remote server during the linking process to see if anyone already owns them.
How to transfer the camera to another owner/account
The original owner needs to open their App, and sign in with the email address they used when they first set up the camera.
There's a Forgot Password link on the App login screen if the owner can't remember their password - it will email them a reset link. They need to have access to the email address used in the App to receive the link.
Once the owner signs in to the App, select the camera. Go to the camera Settings, scroll down, and press Delete. This unlinks the camera from their account.
The camera does not have to be with the owner, powered-on, or connected to Wi-Fi, as the Delete step is just telling the remote server the camera ID is now free to be used by a new owner.
The camera can then be powered-on, factory-reset (hold down the press-button under the cover for 10-15 seconds), and successfully linked to a new owner's App account and Wi-Fi.
I have a used camera, or I do not have access to the account
If you have acquired a used camera whose owner is uncontactable, or can't log in to their App, return it.
To take control of a used camera, you must get the original owner to unlink it from their App account first, just like you would with a used phone. You can only do this via the ownership-transfer steps above. We have no way to identify who owns the camera, and we can't contact anyone on your behalf.
If you can't contact the original owner, or you can not sign into the App as the original owner, and you do not have access to the email address used for the owner's App account, you won't be able to link a previously-linked camera. The camera's visible serial number can not be used to identify the camera owner or unlink it, as the cameras have unique identifier details in their firmware that are used to ID them, which may only be visible to their owner via their App. We can not unlink cameras for you, and the App provider can not do this either.
