A small number of Android phones have recently received updates from Google that may impact the phone's ability to connect to the QM3793 7in Bluetooth Media Player Head Unit via the Android Auto App only. The affected phones will have a message when connected stating "Communication Error 7" and "The software does not pass Android security checks".
Apple owners are not affected by this issue. All other functionality in the QM3793, such as Bluetooth audio streaming, remains unchanged for Android phones.
A software update for Android phone owners is below
Format a USB stick with FAT32.
Copy only the BIN file to the stick.
- Remove any SD card from the QM3793.
Turn on the vehicle & QM3793. Do not switch off during this process.
Insert the USB into your QM3793 (front bottom left under cover).
Press the red USB icon on the top-right of main screen.
Press OK on the upgrade message (if asked).
Wait for the QM3793 to update and restart.
If your QM3793 does not load the firmware update, do the following and try again after each step:
- Make sure your vehicle is supplying at least 12v to the QM3793 - update it with engine running.
- Try a different USB stick - format it with FAT32 - copy only the update file to the stick.
- Factory-reset the QM3793 via the Settings menu.
- Power-off the vehicle and disconnect the QM3793 from the wiring harness for 30 seconds.
