The XC4867 is a USB capture dongle that lets you copy S-video / composite video, and analogue audio from legacy video players, video cassette recorders, and camcorders to a Windows PC.
Setup on Windows for Capture
Download the driver files. Extract the folder from the ZIP and run the Setup file.
Click through to complete the driver installation.
Connect the XC4867's multi-cable adapter lead to the XC4867 dongle, and plug your video player / camcorder video & audio output cables into the adapter lead's audio & video plugs.
Now plug the XC4867 USB dongle into the PC USB port.
Download the OBS Studio software and click through to install it. When prompted, choose the middle option to optimise for recording. The software will check your PC is powerful enough to run it, then just click through to finish the install.
Run the OBS Studio software, and click the Sources + button:
Now pick Video Capture Device from the menu:
Click OK on the Create/Select Source box:
Make sure the Device box has WDM 2828x Capture selected:
Scroll down and choose Audio Output Mode Output Desktop Audio (WaveOut):
Tick the box Use Custom Audio device:
Below the tickbox, select Audio Device: Line (USB 28286 Device)
Click OK to save. You can adjust the audio in the Audio Mixer:
How to capture your video
- Open OBS Studio. Press "Play" on your video player / camcorder.
- The LED on the dongle should light up blue. If it does not, move it to another USB port on the PC.
- Use the Start Recording button on the right side of OBS Studio to start and stop recording.
- To see your recorded files, go to File->Show Recordings.
To stream to services like Youtube, open Settings -> Stream, choose your service, login to authenticate your chosen streaming service. Then press the Start Streaming button. Follow the prompts to get the stream running.
