ME0001 is a fixed mains charger for Electric Vehicles (EVs) that can operate on three phase power and deliver up to 22Kw AC charging speeds to compatible EVs. The charger is expected to be installed by a qualified electrician with 3 lines connected as 230VAC phase to neutral.
Why does my BYD EV only charge at 7Kw
Some BYD EVs, such as the Atto 3, do support up to 82Kw via DC charging at roadside DC super-chargers. However, the Atto 3 is limited to 7Kw charging when connected to AC chargers.
The Type 2 EV charging port (7 pin), uses 2 pins for comms, and 5 for AC charging, which are PE (Earth), L1, L2, L3, N. The BYD Atto 3 built-in charger only uses L1, N and PE for charging via AC. When used with the ME0001, the charger will supply this maximum from one phase.
Tesla Model 3/Y can do up to 11kW AC charging on three phase.
EVs that can AC charge at 22Kw: Renault Zoe, Renault Megane E-Tech, Smart #1, Smart #3, Porsche Taycan, Audi e-tron, BMW iX1, and various Mercedes-Benz models.
How to calibrate & reset the RCD
1. Connect a mobile device to the EV charger’s WiFi. SSID begins with “ePenguin,” password is 12345678.
2. Open a browser and enter the following address: 192.168.4.1/param?cmd=EE0101001F360E[cmdend]
3. Once you’ve submitted the command, the web-page should return a string of characters if all is OK.
4. To complete the calibration process, simply power off the EV charger and then power it back on.
