When inserted in a fridge, the Brass Monkey fridge battery will charge whenever the fridge has been connected to external power via the power or solar sockets. Keep in mind that solar charging will only occur when amount of sunlight available produces enough power to exceed the amount needed to run the fridge compressor.
You can leave the battery in the fridge whenever you are using the fridge. It will charge automatically and stop charging when full. The fridge will run from the battery if external power is removed.
When you are not going to use the fridge for a while, charge the battery fully, remove it from the fridge, and hold its button down to power it off. This is necessary, as the fridge will continue to draw power from the battery even when you have turned the fridge off.
Store the battery in a cool dry location, and press the button every few months to ensure it still has some charge. Recharge it in the fridge, or with the Brass Monkey battery charger, whenever the fuel-gauge LEDs indicate 50% or less charge remains.
GH2014 will recharge GH2050/GH2052/GH2054/GH2206 batteries outside fridges.
GH2059 will recharge GH2049/GH2051/GH2053 batteries outside fridges.
When using one of the above external chargers, plug them into the battery charge socket to charge, and unplug them when the battery's fuel-gauge LEDs indicate it is full.
Do not connect anything other than the above chargers to the battery's own charge socket. Solar panels or cigarette power leads must not be connected directly to the battery.
