These terms and conditions provide important information about placing an order for, or using, a Gift Card. Please read them carefully. We may change these terms and conditions at any time in limited circumstances.
General
These Gift Card Terms and Conditions apply to both physical gift cards and digital eGift Cards (“Gift Cards”) issued by Jaycar Electronics ABN 65 000 087 936 (“us”, “our”, “we”).
By purchasing, activating, redeeming or attempting to redeem a Gift Card, you accept and agree to be bound by, and comply with, these terms and conditions.
Physical gift cards can be purchased in-store only. eGift Cards can be purchased online only. A Gift Card limit or value per transaction may apply for all online purchases.
Each Gift Card will have a:
(a) 12-digit card number (“Card Number”); or
(b) 18-digit card number and 4-digit access PIN (“Access Pin”)
Physical Gift Cards will be automatically activated, with funds loaded, upon purchase at the point of sale. Digital eGift Cards are automatically activated 24 hours after purchase.
The purchase date is the Gift Card issue date (“date of issue”).
Gift Cards are valid for 36 months (3 years) from the date of issue.
Gift Cards must be redeemed within the validity period. Gift Cards will be void and may not be redeemed after the expiry date. Expiry of Gift Cards is 36 months (3 years) from the date of issue. The unused balance will not be refunded or credited.
Purchasing a Gift Card
You cannot purchase Gift Cards with loyalty eCoupon rewards, Gift Cards, buy now pay later or credit accounts.
Purchases with your Gift Card
You may purchase goods from Jaycar company stores, or the Jaycar website by selecting merchandise and taking them to the point-of-sale operator in-store or proceeding to the checkout on the website www.jaycar.com.au.
(a) For in-store purchases, your Gift Card barcode will be scanned at the point of sale and the team member will enter the Access PIN (if provided).
(b) For online purchases, choose Gift Card as your payment method upon checkout, instructions will be provided on our website for the Card Number and the Access PIN (if provided) to be entered to complete the purchase. The value of your cart must be equal to, or less than the balance on the card, as multiple tender options or split payments are currently not available.
You acknowledge that the Gift Card may not be used to:
(a) pay a store or credit account;
(b) purchase more Gift Cards; and
(c) purchase merchandise that we are not permitted to supply to you by law in the relevant location (for example, items with age restrictions)
When you make a purchase with a Gift Card, we will reduce the remaining card value (being the portion of the initial value of the Gift Card that remains unspent at any time) by the value of all purchases of merchandise that are processed against the Gift Card.
Your Gift Card may only be used to make purchases up to the remaining card value. If you wish to make a purchase for an amount that exceeds the remaining card value you may do so only in-store or via our Techstore by phoning 1800 022 888. You will be asked to pay the excess using another payment method. Multiple tender options or split payments are currently not available online.
Once the remaining card value is completely used, you should destroy your Gift Card. Your Gift Card cannot be reloaded or topped up.
You can check your Gift Card balance for cards with a Card Number and PIN:
(a) on this website giftcard.jaycar.com.au/CheckBalance. You will be required to enter both the Card Number and Access PIN;
(b) in-store. You will be required to provide the Card Number and Access PIN to the operator; or
(c) by phoning our call centre on 1800 022 888. You will be required to provide the Card Number and Access PIN to the operator.
You can check your Gift Card balance for cards with a Card Number:
(a) in-store. You will be required to provide the Card Number to the operator; or
(b) by phoning our call centre on 1800 022 888. You will be required to provide the Card Number to the operator.
No cash advances or exchanges
You cannot obtain a cash advance with your Gift Card; redeem your Gift Card for cash; use a Gift Card to buy another Gift Card; exchange your Gift Card for a different denomination or type of Gift Card; or exchange your Gift Card for another tender (such as cash) or discount.
Faulty or damaged Gift Cards
If your Gift Card is proven to be faulty or damaged because of the production process or fault, please contact our call centre on 1800 022 888.
You are responsible for your Gift Card
You are responsible for the use, safety, and security of your Gift Card. Please treat your Gift Card like cash. Lost or stolen Gift Cards cannot be replaced or refunded.
You are liable for all transactions on your Gift Card, except to the extent to which there has been fraud or negligence by us.
Gift Card errors and issues
If you believe an error has occurred with your Gift Card, please contact our call centre on 1800 022 888. Your Card Number and Access PIN (if available) will be required for the operator to assist you.
Contact the store concerned for issues with merchandise purchased with a Gift Card. For further details, refer to our Returns Policy.
Privacy and your personal information
Please see our Privacy Policy for details of how we collect and handle your personal information. By purchasing, redeeming or attempting to redeem a Gift Card (including by providing your personal information), you acknowledge that we (and/or our related third parties) may collect, use and disclose your personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
Changes to these terms and conditions
Jaycar reserves the right to change any of the terms contained in these terms and conditions at any time to the extent permitted by law. Such amendments will be effective as soon as they are posted on our website.
