Make sure you are logged on as an administrator before downloading and installing the software.
Visit the product page to get the latest software from the product page Downloads section
Extract the downloaded software to a folder (right click the Zip, choose Extract All).
Run the software installer from the software's root folder. Click Next until it finishes.
Press Windows and X keys on your keyboard and choose Device Manager from the list.
Find the CP2102 USB device in the list, double-click it, and press Update Driver.
Choose Browse My Computer for Drivers and navigate to the folder you extracted from the download.
Go to the USBDrivers folder and click to select the folder for your version of Windows (Win10 driver works for Win11)
Press Open and complete the driver installation. You should end up with a new port like this:
Open the Sound Meter software
Click Com Port (C), then Manual (M), type in the specific COM port number your system installed (5 in the image above), and press OK.
Power on the Sound Meter, plug in the USB cable to the PC and the meter
Press the Setup button on the meter
If successful, the LCD display in the program will mirror what is shown the meter's LCD display.
Resolving issues
Software has a runtime error
Your PC may be missing the Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime required by the software.

Meter image in the program shows Not Connected
PC does not have the CP210x drivers installed:
Make sure the device in Device Manager does not have the yellow triangle. If it does, reinstall the drivers, and make sure you select the Windows_10 folder.
You have not selected the correct COM port:
See instructions above on how to do this.
Meter is not ready:
Install the 9v battery, turn the meter on, plug it in to the PC, and press Setup on the meter.
